Stormy is a 22 year old quarter horse who was a champion barrel racer in his prime earning numerous awards for his young rider. He was surrendered to us after his owner neglected him and then spitefully abandoned him following a ‘War of the Roses‘ divorce. Charges are still pending against the owner. He has a serious infection on his withers stemming from an old injury that could take months of expensive medical treatment to heal and needs special food because of his weakened condition. Please help us provide Stormy with the care and treatment he deserves.

This mare and her yearling filly were surrendered to us by a man who did not have the resources nor the knowledge to properly care for them. Without proper food and water they competed with each other and a pony in a small dry lot to survive. Even though they live in luxury at their new foster home, special feeds are still recommended by the vet to make sure this filly, who is quite small for her age, has the opportunity to grow and develop normally.
GOOD NEWS! In just a few hours all of the dogs were adopted out at our Adopt-a-thon on 11/06/10. A huge thanks goes out to Tri State Cart, League for Animal Welfare, Anderson Family Pet Center, Ucan,Anderson Family Pet Center and all of the wonderful volunteers that turned out to help. Without these folks and their tireless dedication to the welfare of these animals, this event would not have been possible. To see more on this story go to Fox19.
On 10/11/10 BCHS rescued 38 dogs, 36 of which were flea infested chihuahuas from a vacant home in Sardinia. The CART volunteers donned hazmat suits and masks as they waded through rooms filled with feces to capture the small dogs. Paul Hughes, the Adams County Dog Warden temporarily filled the vacant dog warden's position in Brown County to head up this rescue. As they were rounding up the last of the dogs they found a chest freezer full of dead dogs.
Many thanks to the CART-County Animal Response Team along with the Adams County Dog Warden, Paul Hughes for their efforts in the extraction, documentation, vetting and housing of all of the dogs.
